Have Cellulitis After A Calf Injury. Took Antibiotics. Permanent Bruise Formed. Hematoma?

I injured my lower inside calf 6 months ago. I had a tree fall and scrape my leg. Severely bruised and swollen for a couple weeks. Then I got cellulitis, extremely red, swollen and hot. Took several bouts of antibiotics to get rid of it, and about 2 months. 4 months later I still have slight discoloration, like a permanent bruise , the size of a fifty cent piece, and about the size of a nerf football I have a sport that surrounds the bruise that is very hard, slightly warm an numb. Was told it was a hematoma, however all the hematomas I've seen stick way out and are very discolored. This is flat and mostly skin colored. How long til this goes away, is there anything I can do to speed it up and is the best thing to do just wait, or see someone for it?

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,
Welcome at HCM.

I have read complete details of your question.

It looks that you had cellulitis previously & worried about a spot present since last 6 months.
The present spot is due to previous cellulitis which lead to inflammation & discoloration of skin.If previous inflammation had caused changes in deep dermis layer then this may be there for a long time & it may not go away.
I will advice you to accept it & wait for it to disappear by itself.
You may take vitamin E & C preparation because they help with collagen formation & helpful in replenishing its deficiencies.

Hope this all will help you.
