She is on water pills but one leg the left particularly her foot swells more and she is in a lot of pain. I have finally been getting her to lay down in a bed with pillows she cant lay flat finds it hard to breath. What should i do to get the swelling down. I restrict her salt content and she eats good.

Hello,

Pedal edema with difficulty sleeping flat due to breathlessness may be due to congestive cardiac failure(CCF).

CCF produces pulmonary edema which makes her difficult to breath.

You need to

1. Check her blood pressure.

2. ECG

3. Echocardiogram

4. Chest X ray

Consult a Cardiologist.
