Have Acid Reflux. Taking Nexium. Have Upset Stomach, Chest Pain, Gas. What To Expect Later On?

i have acid reflux and because my line of work keeps me on the road between 8 to 15 hours a day i eat fast foods most of the time. for many years i to acid blockers like bloc acid and nexium but my doctor stopped me because he indicated that it was not a long term solution on a regular basis so now i take them from time to time and always walk with my tums. I frequently get upset stomachs but try to the correct foods to avoid serious complications. However recently the frequency of stomach discomforts are increasing including chest pains and gas. What can I expect later on if I continue like this, and what are the options to improve my situation.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
If I were your treating doctor for this case of chronic stomach pain ,I would come up with these possibilities as disease has from many years , these includes.
1 The first possibility is of peptic ulcer disease or Hiatus hernia.Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy.Try raising the head of your bed 4 inches above with blocks. It also might help to avoid eating or drinking for two hours before you lie down.To help control stomach acid , one should not drink alcohol or drinks with caffeine in them or eat chocolates or spicy food or junk foods. Also take some antacid ( with oxetacain) .Take rebamipide 100 mg 2-2-2 for six months.
2 Tension is the another reason of this type of stomach , so please avoid these.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion( 2nd).
Good luck,Dr. HET
