Have A Lump On Skin For Long Time. What Could Be This?

About 6 months ago I noticed what looked like a possible pimple or in grown hair on my bikini line, I thought it went away but I could still feel a lump under the skin, felt like a small pebble. I tried squeezing it and a small amount of white puss came out, but then turned into a decent amount of blood . I left it alone, but now it seems a bit bigger, its purple in color and hurts when I try to squeeze it and nothing comes out anymore. It s just a sore lump. Should I be concerned? What could it be and what could I do to get rid of it?

Hi,
From the description, it looks like a furuncle or a boil.
Self manipulation or squeezing of the lesion is not advisable.
Do hot water compresses of the lesion twice or thrice in a day followed by application of a topical antibiotic like mupirocin or fusidic acid. If its painful, you may take an antiinflammatory like ibuprofen. If the lesion does not heal consult a dermatologist so that an appropriate oral antibiotic if required can be started.
Hope that answers your query. Take care.
