Hi,
Welcome to HCM.
MRSA is Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus. It is a bacteria staphylococcus which causes many common localised infections of skin like boils, furuncles and abscessess. The problem with this bacteria is that it has developed resistance to the antibiotics which normally are used for staphylococcus infections like penicillin etc.
This MRSA is usually more common in the hospital acquired infections.
I suggest you cross check the antibiotics given to your relative. MRSA can be controlled by using antibiotics like Vancomycin and Imipenem.
Next, isolation of the patient till her infection is healed is recommended.
Thanks.
