Have Bartholin Gland Abscess. Chances Of Cancer?

I am 66 years old and recently had a Bartholin gland abcess. Is there any concern that this might be cancerous? My gyno/ob did not seem to feel that there was anything to worry about. He gave me a ten-day supply of antibiotics and I used epsom salts sitz baths. The abcess rose and drained what I thought to be about l/2 cup. Since this occurred at home, no lab check could be done. I have a f/u visit w/him. I know a little knowledge is dangerous, but several on-line articles indicated over 60 was often malignant. What are your views?

hi,
the chance of bartholin's gland abscess to turn out as cancer is extremely rare. there is nothing to worry on this case, but if your really very much anxious then you may go for a biopsy and confirm its not a cancer.

I hope I have succeeded in providing the information you were looking for. Please feel free to write back to me for any further clarifications. I would gladly help you.

Best wishes.
