Has anyone had choleserol higher than 264 ?

I was shocked when my latest blood work came back w/my cholesterol at 264. The DR prescribed Vytorin. I am in my 40 s, don t drink or smoke. Don t eat red meat or anything fried. Very healthy lifestyle. My DR said it can very well be heredity. This is scaring me to death! Has anyone had choleserol higher than 264 ?

My total cholesterol was 279 and I freaked out! But you cannot go by the TOTAL cholesterol number alone. My HDL - the good choleseterol - was 97, which was high off the charts. A physician friend looked at my total cholesterol profile and said I have nothing to worry about since my HDL was so high, and my triglycerides were low. He also said to stay away from any prescription meds that lower cholesterol - there negative effects far outway any positives. My advice, get another professional opinion from a doctor who is not so dogmatic, and stuck in the conventional, sometimes lazy, way of thinking - times have changed greatly with advances done by alternative professionals. Good luck. Tina in Cleveland, Ohio

I ve been charting bbt and I m a little on the low side - around 96.5 in the follicular phase and 97-97.5 in the luteal phase. Just on whim I took a temperature reading several hours after running a half-marathon assuming my temp would be higher than normal, but it was 94.0. I took it twice to be sure. I didn t feel uncomfortably cold or warm, after getting in a hot bath (for my sore muscles) it went up to 98.3. What should I make, if anything, of that low temperature?

Im not a diabetic as of yet, I went to the doctor one morning after fasting and my blood sugar was 104 at 9:30 am, I thought it was a fluke so rather then sit in a 6 hour session with liquid I bought a meter. Yesterday my blood sugar at 4 pm was 87. Then I took again this morning 15 mins after waking and it was 106. How can this be?

hi, my question is my right testicle is now higher than my left just in the last few days. I also have a little pain. I have had a little lump on my right testicle for about 15 to 20 years it never has bothered me. Right testcle feels a little swollen but does not hurt when I touch it firmly. Is this something I should be conerned about?

Hi Dr Oana, I have had a stale blood (reddish brown) discharge for over ten years - both breasts. I am 47 years old, had cervical cancer at 31; current health issues: angina, coronary artery disease, fibromyalgia, high cholesterol not sufficiently controlled with medication (Lipitor for many years and now on Vytorin). I have just noticed the discharge (left breast) has changed to black from one duct, dark green from 3 others. The R breast is still a normal milky discharge. I have saw a specialist 1 year ago who did no tests but said to come back in 2 years. I have never had a biopsy or sample of the discharge examined - should I request my GP organise a needle biopsy (was sent to have one via ultrasound but they decided at the appointment not to do it for some reason. Kind regards, and thank your for assisting, Caroline Todd

My wife was take Vytorin 10/20 mg for here cholesterol for 3 years and it has not helped very much. She seen the doctor again and was given NIACIN SR (NIASPAN) 500 mg. My wife is worried about the increase in mg from 10/20 - 500. Is there a serious health concern about the increase?

I have a red rash on my chest just below my neck. It is bright red, kind of like when I use to take Niaspan and would have some red flushing. It started about three weeks ago. They changed my cholesterol a few months ago to Zocor. Could I be having a reaction to the meds. I had been taking Vytorin so I don t think it s the Zocor but I don t know.
