Hard Impact To The Calf Muscle On An Obstacle Course, Lower Leg Turned Black. What Is It ?

Trying to recall the label/name given to a deep bruise that put me on bed rest back when I was in the military . I took a hard impact to the calf muscle on an obstacle course and the next day my lower leg had turned black. The corpsman had me stay off of it a couple days and I resumed training. Seemed like an odd label at the time (for some reason I think it began with the letter b ) Thanks
