Hands smelling like rubber after unpacking organic latex bed with no odor. What could this be?

Today I unpacked an organic latex had almost no odor . I removed the plastic it was wrapped in, and noticed no odor. Later in the evening, my hands smelled like rubber, like I had worn rubber gloves. I had to wash my hands ten times, and still there was a lingering smell. What could this be? Could I have eaten something to make this happen?
