Hairfall. On Medication For Epilepsy. Help

Hi ..My age is 23 and from previous two year i m noticing some change in my hairs. I think they are becoming thin and gradually everyday 15 to 20 hairs fall when i take bath. When i take bath i pour water from the head onwards so everytime hairs get wet during bath. I use hair shampoo some time twice a week and i m a regular medicine taker because of epillepsie. The medicine is Eptoin ( 100 mg) . I am not finding the reason why hairs are getting down and down everyday 15 to 20. It is a big reason to worry. If any advice please suggest. Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcare magic.

I have gone through available history.

Hairfall is common side effect of anti epiletic drug, most commonly with valproate but may happen with eptoin also.

You should also rule out other causes of hairfall like nutritional deficiency, dendruff or hair pathology or stress. For that you should consult dermatologist or hair specialist.

Drugs containing zinc or selenium may be helpful to reduce hairfall. You may get prescription from your doctor for the same.

Thanks.
