Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

The effect of local anaesthetic solution usually lasts for a max.period of 24hours.
So,nothing to worry.
Overdose of LA solution injected can also lead to such condition.
Avoid lip biting as it can result injure your lips which in turn can cause bleeding.

Take rest.
Complete course of medicines has to be administered.
Take care.

Hello & welcome,

Numbness in the corner of bottom of lip & chin here might be due to residual effect of local anesthesia.

You just will have to take care of not biting your lip or you may injure it unless total effect of local anesthesia subsides.

If this numbness remains even 24 Hrs after the surgery, then you should visit your dentist & get thoroughly examined to rule out any nerve injury during the surgery which is common complication during wisdom tooth removal procedure.

Keep oral hygiene optimum.

Take Care.

Dentist Dr. Pankti Patel's  Response
hello,
Normally while extracting impacted wisdom teeth, the dentist has to give a local anaesthetic solution to make your one side of the jaw numb.

There is one nerve called inferior alveolar nerve running below the wisdom tooth in the lower jaw. While extracting tooth sometimes, there can be trauma caused to this nerve, which if only bruised, numbness can be recovered within few months. but if the trauma caused to nerve is severe, then healing would be limited. But, you have to consult your dentist for evaluation and give necessary treatment and medications available.

Sometimes it can be also due to the residual effect of local anaesthetic solution, which goes off after few days.

take care...

Hi
Welcome to HCM forum
The numbness on lip and chin is due to nerve block(local anaesthesia) given to you.
So don't worry, just take rest and be calm.
This effect will go off on its own, if not then consult your dentist.
Apply ice packs and follow your prescription.
Take care

Dear friend.

Thanks for sharing your concern.

numbness in the lips and chin are caused due to injury to nerve fib res and their endings.

you can wait and watch for few days, as it takes several days for nerves to regenerate. But be sure that it will recover.

Meanwhile just follow post extraction instructions religiously so that any kind of infection can be prevented.

Hope it helps.

Thanks.

Take care.

Hi,
Nothing to worry.
Feeling of swelling might be due to some effect of local anesthesia which remains for few hours.
Go for follow up and get examined.
After examination he may go for short course of antibiotic medicine.
Ok and take care.
