Had Unprotected Sex. Missed Period, Bleeding Brown, Dark Blood. Depo Injection. Was It A Miscarriage Or Is A Side Effect?

I used to be on the depo injection for 7 years and had no periods. I now have 2 children after coming off it 8 yrs ago. I recently had the injection 6 weeks after having my last child and had began to bleed brown dark blood a week after. I had unprotected sex a week before the injection, i havent done a pregnancy test. Is this bleeding a side effect or a possible miscarriage or can i be pregnant?

Hello
Thanks for your query.
Apart from a pregnancy test it is impossible to differentiate between pregnancy, related complications or the effect of the Depo.
6 weeks after delivery, it could also be a minor period.
A pregnancy is less likely since it has just been six weeks since you delivered.
However, please take a pregnancy test to be sure.
An ultrasound scan would be more reliable.
All the best.
