Had Thrombosed Hemorrhoid. Taking Hot Stiz Baths Three Times A Day. Treatment?

I have had a thrombosed hemorrhoid for about one month. Recently I saw a surgeon and she recommended having it lanced but also suggested a more conservative alternative of sits baths. I have taken hot stiz baths three times a day...up to an hour at times with water as hot as I could stand. The hemorrhoid might be slightly smaller but is more painful. What are the chances that with continued stiz baths it will heal? What is the recovery time if I have it lanced? I have a trip planned...a 5 day road trip in three weeks and riding horses in 4 weeks.

Hello,
thanks for using health care magic

A thrombosed hemorrhoid is a complicated hemorrhoid.
the most effective treatment for complicated hemorrhoid
is surgery. however, surgery has to be done by an
experience surgeon else you might develop complications
such as as an incontinent anus.
Am not so sure of sit baths and definitely the outcome will
generally be poor.

Surgery will require 2 to 4 weeks all things being equal for
pain to be abolish and for healing to have evolved appro-
priately.

Hope this helps you.
Best regards

Hi and thanks for the query,
management of a thrombosed hemmorroid deserves a lot of care. In case of very severe unbearable pain, incision could be the only gateway. However, there are specific techniques required and should be done under certain conditions to avoid any complications such as an infection, which in the anal area might be difficult to control.
I suggest you avoid had foods now, drink much water, eat more vegetables, use local anesthetics and pain killers. book and appointment and see the proctologist or surgeon for his opinion and care.
Thanks and best regards,
Luchuo, MD.
