Had throat infection. Taking gupisone tablets and antibiotics. What is the function of gupisone tablet?

Hi, two days back i had severe throat infection . Doctor prescribed gupisone tablets along with anti biotics. please can you tell me why gupisone tablet is for? thanking You.
