Had Smashed Knee. Its Swollen And Bruised. Diagnosed As Pulled Ligaments And Tendon. Fracture?

Hi there, I have a question regarding my knee cap. I smashed it about 5 weeks ago on the ground in germany, and it was a little swollen and bruised and i went to the physio to check it out and they said that it was pulled ligaments and tendon and a piece of scar tissue floating around. They said to go back in two weeks if that little piece was still floating around and moving, and perhaps to get an x-ray. Could it possibly be fractured? and if so, what would the treatment for that be?

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Firstly you need X-ray of your patella bone in AP/Lateral view. Fracture should be excluded in your condition.
Fracture patella can be managed conservatively or surgical depending upon fracture.
Undisplaced fracture are managed by cast application for 4-6 weeks.whereas displaced fracture may need partial or total paella removal or tension band wiring depending upon fracture.
Get well soon.

Take Care
