Had Removed Gallbladder Due To Stone. Now Have Gastrointestinal Symptoms. Increase In Period Pain, Mood Swings. Suggestions?
Hi. I have had my gallbladder out 12 months ago with a large 2.5cm stone. Since then I have had terrible gastrointestinal symptoms. And my period pain has intensified including pain in my right side, acute lower back pain, brown menstral discharge and mood swings. I am due for an ultra sound to exclude polycystic ovaries as the doctor thinks I have endometriosis. What are your thoughts?
Hi, Thanks for the query. Gall bladder removal can affect the gastrointestinal system but that may not be solely responsible for your menstrual problem. As you are having severe dysmenorrhea there is possibility of endometriosis as told by your doctor. But dysmenorrhea can occur due to other causes also. By doing ultrasound the structural causes for dysmenorrhea like endometriosis, fibroids etc can be ruled out. So you can go for it and also you can go for hormonal profile if your doctor suggests.
