Had Migraine Headaches. Pins And Needles In Hand And Face And Unable To Form Sentence

I am a 27 year old healthy female. I have had a few migrane headaches over the last couple of years. Monday I had what teh doctor called a atypical migrane aura. I was coming home form work and had pins and needles in my hand and arm and it went into my face. I tried to speak to a coworker and could not form a sentence. I was taken to teh ER dept and within an hour most of teh symptoms were gone. Doctor orderd a catscan which came back normal. Should I asked to be referred to a neuroligist or to have an MRI. It was pretty scary when it was happening.

Neurologist 's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for posting your query.

I have noted your symptoms. In addition to migraine aura, we should consider a diagnosis of transient ischemic attack (TIA) also. This is because the symptoms lasted much longer than the usual duration of aura. Also, language dysfunction and inability to speak are not common with migraine aura.

So, I feel you should consult a neurologist and get an MRI of brain done.

I hope my answer helps. Please get back if you have any follow up queries or if you require any additional information.

Wishing you good health,
