Had Loop Diathermy Treatment For CIN3 Cell Changes. Treated For Infection. Now Dark Brown Bleeding With Cramping. What To Do?

hi
I had loop diathermy treatment on the 11th of march, for CIN3 cell changes. I had an infection and a double course of strong antibiotics along with thrush treatments tablets as a counteraction to my normal reaction to antibiotics. after 4 weeks I was relatively back to normal, however since then I have had period like cramping, sometimes quite severe and irregular dark brown bleeding. I cicurrently have the contraceptive implant and do not have a menstrual cycle. I have had more swabs done that have come back all clear. I'm feeling tired all the time, gained weight and generally feel unwell

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello and welcome to HCM,

The current problem that you are facing is that of cramping pain and dark irregular bleeding.
The previous problem that you faced was that of severe infection of the genital tract.
I guess prescription of antibiotics and anti fungals has cleared away these infections.
Now, this bleeding despite the use of contraceptive has to be investigated.
Pap smears may be coming normal but there is a pathological cause for this bleeding.
Bleeding can be due to endometrial hyperplasia, polyp, growth (carcinoma), or dysfunctional (if no cause is found)
An endometrial as well as cervical biopsy needs to be done.
The biopsy of both endometrium and cervix will determine the pathological cause of bleeding at any one site.
Consult your gynecologist for clinical examination and investigations.
Appropriate management can be planned after the investigations.

Thanks and take care
