Had lap surgery, abdomen distended, shrinking. Is something wrong?
On Thursday 2/21/13 I had lap surgery to deal with a ruptured appendix. They found and removed a moderate abscess . I was kept in the hospital until yesterday. My abdomen is still extremely distended. It doesn t seem to be shrinking. Also, even though I haven t been eating much, my weight when I returned home was exactly the same as before. I m wondering if something is wrong.

Your appendix got ruptured and there was collection of pus in the abdomen.The pus would have drained and the abdomen was cleaned.But,a drain should be kept in this type of cases.If it is not kept ,the collection will be left inside and there will be distension of abdomen.You should go for an Ultrasound abdomen to see for any collection inside.Then,proceed accordingly.
Weight will not be reduced drastically in few days.Do not bother about your weight.
If you come back with Ultrasound report,i will clarify further
