i had sexual intercourse with my husband on 10th and 14th day after my mensus period which was on feb 28th 2012.but both the days we mated i had taken i- pill the pregnancy preventing tablet ,first one after two days of mating and the second on the same day.then after that we had our relation only on 20th day of my mensus day which i thought safe.now am three months pregnant.cud u pls say how this happened.is this pregnancy preventing pill doesnt worked those days.or is it the 20th day...it happened.pls help

Hello,

In one way it is difficult to predict now.But yes, it is quiet possible to get pregnant even on 20 th day of cycle.This may happen if ovulation was delayed or as part of normal variation you might be ovulating around 20th day of cycle. Egg can remain viable for two days , so a ovulation on 18 th day can also lead to pregnancy on 20th day. Such pills are often helpful in preventing pregnancy , but there can be failures.
