Had Intercourse. Pregnancy Test Negative. Got Periods Cramping. No Bleeding. Pregnant?

Hi
I had intercourse with my boyfriend and was 11days late for my period. I suspected that I could have been pregnant but took a test and it was negative. I got what supposedly is my period today and im cramping like a normal period but the wierd thing is is that there's no blood on the pad? But when I use the bathroom it's like I have my normal period. Like there's no blood whatsoever on the pad. Which makes me a bit skeptical. Could there be an explanation for this? Is this really my period?

Hi and thank you so much for this query.

From the information you have provided, chances are very few that you are pregnant. This is because a urine pregnancy test would most likely be positive 11days after you last expected date of menses. What sounds a little abnormal is the lack of blood flow now as should have been the case with previous menstrual flows.

My advice is that you stay on the watch out not to be embarrassed by flow if it shows up. If you get no blood flow, patiently wait for the next expected menses before taking on any further steps to see an OBGYN for this.

Please, remember to adopt and use a reliable contraceptive method to stay free from the worries of unwanted/unplanned pregnancy. Also, condom use greatly reduces the chances of getting sexually transmitted infections, please always consider using them unless otherwise.

I hope this answers your query and guides you on the way forward. If there are any more concerns, please let me know and i would gladly address them. I wish you well.

OBGYN Dr. Kulsoom Qureshi's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for consulting us.
This is unlike your normal periods as you are late, have cramping & not bleeding as routine.
There is a possibility of pregnancy specially ectopic, which need to be ruled out.
Please have one blood test ( serum beta hCG ) & one trans vaginal ultrasound to rule this out.
Visit a Gynecologist for necessary evaluation.
