Had Heart Attack, Recovered By Aspirin, Plavix. Face Swollen, No Pain, Lost Sweet Taste, Feels A Lemon Taste

My wife had a heart attack about 2 months ago but has since been cleared by her doctor and only takes high dose asprin and Plavix. She noticed suddenly this afternoon that her face is swollen on the right side by her jaw. She has no pain but said she can feel a sensation when she bites down like when you bite into a lemon. She lost her taste of sweet about 3 weeks ago and stopped taking the Plavix to see if that was the cause of it. Is this related to the swelling of her nodes?

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
As you mentioned that there was heart attack 2 months back. She is taking aspirin & plavix ( clopidogrel ) , since then.
Now suddenly there develops swelling on the right side of jaw.
In my opinion this swelling may be due to late reaction ( allergy) of aspirin.
2nd reason may be bleeding due to anti coagulant action of aspirin and clopidogrel.
Diagnosis can be confirmed by measuring the bleeding and clotting time by blood examination.
3rd least possible reason may be dental caries with impacted tooth, diagnosis can be confirmed dental surgeon check up.
In my opinion consult your treating doctor and get his opinion.
Good luck. Dr. HET
