Had Epstein Barr Virus Infection, Herniated Discs, Fatigue, Weakness. Done Surgery. Help

was a horrible bout of Epstein barr virus leaving this once athletic person to just walking . It os funny really because I played soccer, b-ball and softball, soccer in college and running 5-6 miles 3 times a week and taught kick boxing classes and working full time. In addition I have a form of Mitochondrial disease via muscle biopsy I find myself unemployed for over 1 year so I can not have acupuncture and very little supplements due to limited health coverage. The diagnosis lead to 5 discs herniated or buldge, extreme tightness, spasms fatigue and weakness which is fairly new. I have fallen, mito affects legs the worst. I used to get botox, nerve blocks and trigger point. Chiropractures will not touch me now. From osteoarthritis. I did have surgery for c6-c7 did not help long recovery and some Doctors let me know that because of the mito disease the dead muscle of course would not work. on the other hand I have c-4 c5 buldge, c5 c6 bi lateral herniation, c7 t1 buldge and bulge l3-l4 nd Dr. said their is leakage? What does that mean? and do you thin as I was on Topamax, with some relief, I have tried them all, but lyrica, amtriptaline and neurotion made me feel high I am tired as it is and amtriptiline made the fatigue worse, but some relief as the morning I am so tight. Klonapin helps with burning pain in upper body but don t take it often. What are your thoughts on a drug similar to Topamax which is a barbiturate, yes addictive, but I have no addictive personality or addiction in the family and extended.

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The herniated discs for which you have been operated is a degenerative disease. You need a regular pain management program and physiotherapy to retard the further progression.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
