Had Colon Cancer Growth Removed. Have Diarrhea, Vomiting And Weight Loss. CT Scan Shows Spot On Pancreas. Suggestions

My mom is 91 and had a huge mass of colon cancer growth removed a year and a half ago. Her white blood cell count is slightly elevated, and just had a severe bout of diaherra and vomiting. She has been losing weight, and for months never feels hungry. The CT Scan a few days ago showed a spot on her pancreas. Very worried for her. She is seeing her Dr. today. Any suggestions.

Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Your mothers symptoms seems to be not related to pancreas disease. More probable is that her symptoms are caused by intestines obstruction (due to narrow connection of the intestines caused by recent surgery or by adhesions), cancer metastases (spot of her pancreas does not have to be metastatic).
Diarrhea and vomiting can also appear with acute gastroenterocolitis and does not have to be a sign of new cancer source.
I suggest you to have colonoscopy performed, stool tests, CEA, CA19-9 levels (if elevated, consider PET scan and pancreas biopsy).

Hope this will help.
Regards.
