Had Chronic Constipation, Large Stools. Reason?

I went to Ohio from New Mexico recently for my fathers funeral. I had chronic constipation prior to this (since living in NM for 2 yrs) having to digitally disimpact myself almost daily. When in my hometown in Ohio I was in complete disbelief of the normal, extra large BM s I had. I thought I had just gained weight in my mid-section but after the daily XXL BM s I had in Ohio, I was back to having my normal flat tummy and realized I must have been full of shit , literally. Pardon the profanity but I am completely at a loss to figure out if it s the climate, altitude, stress level, or what???? I maintained the exact diet and fluid intake that I normally do, took in a bit more caffiene than usual (minimally), and although losing my Dad was a huge negative stress, I felt so relieved to take a mental vacation from my high stress job and just be with my Mom like I was a kid. I m 45, single, no kids, hx: depression , anxiety ,ETOH/drug recovery, lonely, financially secure, isolated, unhappy.

Hello, kari16v,
I am so sorry for your recent loss of your father. Yiu have to be
strong and stay positive and think of all the good times you had
with your dad. I also want to congratulate you on fighting and
winning the alcohol and drug battle. I want you to stay sober
and strong and I wish you well.
As for constipation problem, you do need to change your diet.
You do need more fiber and that includes eating more whole grain
creal, frsh vegetables and drinking adequate amounts of fluids.
I am sure that you are physically active, and that should help..
If your diet is not helping, add fiber supplements such as
metamucil or effersyllium daily. Start with 2 tablespoons a day
and increase it as needed till you get a normal stool.
If this does not help, you may want to take something like
Miralax liquid (Or Generic equivalent) according to the directins daily.
I wish you well.
