Had Bunion Surgery, Big Toe Numb, Floor Feeling Cold. Is It Normal, If Not, Solution?
I had a bunion surgery 6 weeks ago. I have num in my big toe and whenever I touch the floor tiles I feel that the tiles are extremity cold and like they are wet, is that normal or not and if it is normal , how long does it take to go away? If it is not normal what is the discretion to this problem and what is the solution? Thanks
During any surgical procedure it is possible that at least some minor disruption of nerve supply may occur during the incision of the skin and underlying tissues.
It is possible that this disruption is the reason for your discomfort or abnormal sensations.
It should improve though the sensation may not entirely return to normal. It may take weeks to months for any improvement to be seen.
Your description of symptoms suggests a disturbance in the function of the digital nerves that supply the big toe. They might have sustained a temporary concussion injury during the surgical process. It may recover spontaneously within 4-6 weeks. Use of some neurotropic medicines like Pregabalin or Methylcobalamine may help to some extent.
