General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

During any surgical procedure it is possible that at least some minor disruption of nerve supply may occur during the incision of the skin and underlying tissues.

It is possible that this disruption is the reason for your discomfort or abnormal sensations.

It should improve though the sensation may not entirely return to normal. It may take weeks to months for any improvement to be seen.

I hope this helps

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. K. Naga Ravi Prasad's  Response
Hi, thanks for writing to HCM.

Your description of symptoms suggests a disturbance in the function of the digital nerves that supply the big toe. They might have sustained a temporary concussion injury during the surgical process. It may recover spontaneously within 4-6 weeks. Use of some neurotropic medicines like Pregabalin or Methylcobalamine may help to some extent.

If your symptoms are not recovering ,then you may need a nerve conduction study to rule out a complete nerve injury or damage.

Hope this information is helpful. Good day
