Had Bronchitis, Fungal Infection, Cough, Itchy Throat. Given Zap, Augment. What Else Can Help?

Hi I ve been having throat problems since November. First my Doctor said I had an infection more like a fungus and he gave zap I think that s how to write it. Then I had bronchitis and gave me augment. Then about 3 weeks I got a blood test again to make sure everything was fine and then i went back to his office to talk about the results and he said he was not happy with them so he did a strep throat test which supposedly that s what I had and he gave penicillin but by now I was having an itchy throat. Now I ve been taking the antibiotics for 5 days I don t feel any better my throat Is still very itchy and is making me cough constantly and now I m very concern. His office does not open Fri or Sat and I m desperate should I go to the E R?

hi.. thanks for using HCM.
you have sore throat and treated with antibiotics..
now get one swab from the area , send it for culture and sensitiveity, based on the results you can take antibiotics and analgesics.. see your ENT surgeon for this..
start with multivitamin, with vitamin C and zinc..drink clean filtered water.
all the very best..

Allergist and Immunologist Dr. Suman Kumar's  Response
it look like having sinuses as the allergic sinuses causes drip of mucs in throat leading to soar throat and in lungs cause bronchitis
as there can be superadded fungal infections in sinuses if long term infections or alleries
get xray pns waters view to find the condition of sinuses and treat in consultation with ent specialist to completely treat it and prevent recurences
you can take antifungal fluconazole 150 m once a week for 2 months to clear fungus if any as it take long time to get fungus out of body systems
add antiallergic montelucast 10 mg to control allergic cough
can add bronchodilator sy to control breathing problems
add antacid to reduce refluxwhich will reduce pressure of acid in chest and infact cough will be less.continue 3 wk
