Had Breathing Difficulty After Standing Long In Cold Weather. Have A Nodule With Collapsing Lung

Was out in 9 degree weather this AM for about 20 minutes. When I came back into the house I noticed difficulty breathing - as if I could not get enough air in my lungs. I have a lung nodule in the lower right lobe with collapsing lung around the nodule - the nodule is still small.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Cold weather and cold air can cause bronchospasm when we inhale it. So you might be having cold air induced bronchospasm which is causing breathing difficulty. Since you are already having diseased lung (nodule with surrounding collapse). So better not to go out in cold weather for a prolonged time. Quit smoking if you are an active smoker.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Kaushal Bhavsar
