Had a robotic assist hysterectomy with a vaginal uterine removal. Deep bowel pain. Is pain due to bruising of intestines ?

I had a robotic assist hysterectomy with a vaginal uterine removal done 6 days ago. Large fibroids interiorly and exteriorily as well as adenomyosis . I have deep strong bowel pain as the stool moves through part of the small intestine and then several hours later as it reaches the distal end of the descending colon and makes the turn to the rectum. No trouble passing stool nor constipation a few minutes later. Urge to defecate is fine and amount of stool is low normal. Is pain due to bruising of intestines? Will this pass soon? It almost feels as if the intestines are deeply bruised and muscle motion hurts as it passes through the bruised area. This is not a small pain. These are deep and strong pain waves. I have a high pain tolerance so I know it really hurts.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

The narrated strong pain can be possible due to inflammation of a part of colon or adjacent pelvic structure following lap instrumentation manipulations or else.

In my clinic, I recommend the best evaluation with a CT scan of the abdomen & pelvis to find out the root cause and manage accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon

I am postop 14 days from having a robotic assisted hysterectomy. I had uterus, right and left tubes and right ovary removed. Cleaned house on Monday. By Monday night was in a lot of pain. Yesterday pain was just as bad, stayed in bed al day. But it feels like my intestines are swollen, hurts my bladder to urinate and hurts to have bowel movement. Do you think it is because I did too much on Monday and that is the result of my pain?

It has been eight months since my laparoscopic assisted vaginal hysterectomy. My cervix and ovaries were also removed. Should I still feel little tweaks and pulls in that area? I had uterine cance and my pelvic lymph nodes were also removed and I ache in my groin area

Q. I am trying to decide the best surgical approach for vaginal hysterectomy standard vs robotic. I had a right hemicolectomy 33 years ago for a ruptured diverticula my.12 years ago I Had my gallbladder removed the Dr attempted to do it laparoscopically and couldn t because of adhesions. My gym Dr assures me a vaginal hysterectomy presents little risk of nicking the bowel.I was considering seeing a Dr who specializes in robotics. Is this approach less risky?

I recently had a colonoscopy and a endoscopy done, the colon is fine, but the dr found that in my biospy of my stomach red patches through out my stomach. He says that he hasnt seen this very often and doesnt know what it is or what its caused from. Now I have to go through small bowel capsule endoscopy to see if its threw out my small intestine . I have celiac sprue also for 8 years now and have lost alot of weight recently and also have diahreaa every day. I also have craping in pain in the middle of my belly along with bloating and nausea. Im worried that he does not know what this is, and have not been able to find anything on the internet about red patches. I seen the pictures and they are not ulcers, they are not bleeding the are really small and there is alot of them. any Idea of what this could be/

I have been suffering with too many bowel movements for some time. I have had a large bowel procedure which showed diveritular disease. I have since had a small bowel meal and await results. I am still bleeding periodically from the back passage, bright red blood and have what feels like a large protrusion below my chest but above my belly button which is evident when getting out of bed.

I can not go to the bathroom. I have tried everything from laxatives, senna tea, vegetables, fruit, magnesium citrate , fiber capsule and drinks. I constantly feel it swirrling in my stomach . Even with the magnesium citrate my stomach just rumbles and if I m really luck a small bowel movement will happen not not a lot. My stomach hurts all the time, I m bloated and uncomfortable. This has been going on for several months now. What else can I try?
