Had A Nose Bleed. Bleeding Is Heavy With Dark Clots. Try To Use Pincher. But Bleeding Reoccurred. How To Overcome This?

My husband has a nosebleed and the bleeding is heavy with dark clots. We went to the emergency room and they pinched his nose with a pincher till the bleeding stopped for 20 minutes. It started again when we got home, I called the doctor at our small rural hospital and he says just pinch it - put ice on his nose and it will stop, that was 30 minutes ago. Is this sound advice?

Pinching of nose for bleeding is not a treatment but a part of temporary relief.
We should go for the root behind this bleeding.
In my opinion may be due to .
1 Hyper tension ,diagnosis can be confirmed by examination of blood pressure at the time of this episode.
2 Blood disorder , diagnosis can be confirmed by examination of bleeding time, clotting time, Vitamin K level . Also get in calcium level in blood.
3 Nasal polyp may be the next reason. Diagnosis can be confirmed by ENT examination.
In my opinion consult a physician and get his opinion.
