Dear user
metoprolol is a beta blocker, meaning it acts on our beta-1 receptors which are located on our heart. It acts by blocking the receptors and thereby preventing them from being acted upon by our body hormones and hence preventing there action.

This leads to decrease in heart rate. and that explains the low heart rate of your husband.

why do we want a low heart rate?
Basically aneurysms are unpredictable, they can rupture anytime IF we do not take the require precaution. Things that lead to increase in blood pressure and heart rate are the major risk factors. Even simple stress n anxiety can lead to there exacerbation

So we must keep it under control. metoprolol does that for us. a less than a normal Bp and heart rate are not even fine but good for ur husband!... so please dont worry about it.

If ur husband is having symptoms of dizziness or fainting attacks than u should revisit ur doctor they will decrease the dose of medicine.

plus i advice that ur husband should completely stop the following:

eating pork, smoking, and alcohol.

He will not have any problem than inshaAllah.
