Had UTI After Hysterectomy. No Bleeding. Taken Cipro. Still Have Pain. Normal?
I am asking for my wife who is sitting here in too much pain....she had total hysterectomy ( lap and vaginal) on 8/22. She has since had UTI and its been about a week since she finished up her cipro meds. She has had no bleeding at all and pain was bad but bearable w pain meds. Two days ago she had some minor amounts of blood when she wiped. Called doc who said that is normal but ordered her to rest more (she has prob overdone a bit). My concern is that she seems to be in more pain than ever before and describes it as severe cramping. She is no longer using the oxy pain meds but is down to Tylenol , Advil etc. is this all normal at this stage of the game or should we be insisting doc see her? He did see her about a week ago including exams and said it looked good.
You should be insisting the doctor to see her all that seems to be helping her are the pain meds, whereas the mainstay of UTI treatment are the antibiotics. More often than not, most patients do not respond to a particular antibiotic (response should be seen within 24-48 hours) as they arr resistant to that particular antibiotic. I am assing this is the case with your wife, please insist on a re-evaluation.
Hope this helps.
Best wishes.
