Had Pleuritis. Have Discomfort In Left Collar Bone And Left Scapula. What Is It?

I was diagnosed with pleuritis in early May. The antibiotics took care of the cough and the x-ray (follow up) was clear. Now, 2 months later I still have mild discomfort in my left collar bone area and left scapula. It does not hurt to breathe, really never has. Sometimes when I take a really deep breath I fell a mild sensation in that collar bone area. I am a runner and want to get back to it after not running for 6 weeks. Do I still have pleuritis or could the discomfort be something else?

Hi, it appears to be due to scaring of the pleura, For some time it may show the effects of its adhesions and rough surfaces. After few days of slow movement like physiotherapy , it may become comfertable.
I to my patients with such symptoms prescribe neurotropic injections and gabapentine for some time after the therapy. Thank you.

Hi Thanks for using HCM.

Do I still have pleuritis or could the discomfort be something else?
Chance of pleural rub is there as you get discomfort only with deep inhalation. But its not any infection. Need not to be worry. Since you are an athlete start doing milder exercise and later your routine works. If more pain then can take mild analgesic like Paracetamol 650 mg. If pain persists then get examined by your doctor once. Hope I answered your question. Wish you good health. Take care.
