Had MRI Of Spine Cervical, Discogenic Edema, Posterolateral Disk Osteophyte, Neural Foramen. What Does This Mean?

I had an MRI spine cervical w/o contrast and they found there is diskogenic edema which appears chronic, associated with disk space narrowing at c6-7. Marked facet arthritis at c6-7 associated with posterolateral disk osteophyte complex is identified causing encroachment of the neural foramen and nerve root compression. Correlation with radiculopathy on the left side is advised. What does this mean??

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

You have degenerative disease of spine.
There is narrowing of space in between C6-7 veretabra with disc edema and it appears to be chronic.
There is e/o arthritis at C6-7 facet joint(bony attachment between two vertebra).
There is poster lateral osteophyte(bony outgrowth at margins and it forms due to chronic stress at annulus fibrosis).It is encroaching lateral neural foramen and so causing nerve root compression.

Treatment options are physiotherapy, exercise or epidural steroid.
You should consult neuro surgeon.
