Had ACL Surgery, Pain In/around Knee When Put Body Weight On Leg. Swelling Or Torn Meniscus?
I had acl surgery 7 weeks ago. last night I tripped down some stairs and landed squarely on my bad leg. I have had no swelling and have complete range of motion in my affected knee since my fall. However, whenever I put all of my weight on my leg, I get a sharp pain in/around my knee and it gives out on me. does this sound like a simple swelling issue, or possibly torn meniscus or what. What steps should I take to get back to normal/or will this take surgery.
Knee joint is very complicated structure, consisting of various, ligaments, cartilages, tendons, menisci etc. As you already had a surgery, you are little more risky. Sharp pain in/around my knee during weight bearing is always concerning. However, physical examination and investigations like x ray, MRI are necessary to properly assess this. Meanwhile, I suggest not to strain the knee, so that you can avoid further damage. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if you have have any clarifications.
