Got My Vicodin Prescription Refilled. Is My Liver Damaged And How Long Can Tylenol Poisoning Last For?
On Sunday I got my vicodin prescription refilled. I have chronic pain and usually take two (2) 10/325 tablets every 4-6 hours for pain. I was not getting relief from the 2 tablets so I called my doctor and he told me that I could take an extra tablet if I needed to. So I took 3 tablets for my night dose and 3 tablets when I woke up Monday. A few hours after I woke up Monday, I became extremely sick. I was vomiting for most of the day, had no appetite, had severe nausea and was sweating. I looked at my prescription bottle and noticed that my doctor had changed the dosage to 10/660 tablets instead of my normal 10/325. I finally got my appetite back late Monday night and I no longer have any of the symptoms I had. But is my liver damaged and how long can tylenol poisoning last for? I did not see a dr since Monday.

For sure the symptoms you felt ( nausea, vomiting, weakness etc) could be explained by the increase in the dosage of the drug. Different people react differently to various amounts of a given drug especially vicodin.
However, it requires at least 10grammes of paracetamol/tylenol taken at once to suffer from a severe liver damage. Though it is possible to have damage with dosages that are less than the 10grammes, it is less likely that you are having a liver damage from the ingestion of 3 tablets of your drug at two separate moments.
Paracetamol has a half life of up to 4 hours thus within a day, sufficient excretion must have occurred to leave you free of any more side effects.
