Front 2 Teeth S Protruding, Having Problem In Smiling And Talking. Will Braces Be Helpful? Treatment Period?

Hi,
I'll be 23 in a couple of months. My front two teeth are protruding. Though it is not visible when I close my mouth I am having a problem in smiling or talking freely. Will braces be helpful? What will be duration and cost of the entire treatment? Also I dont want anybody to notice that I am wearing braces. Please help.

Hello,

Welcome to healthcaremagic forum.

From the details mentioned, its clear that your upper anteriors are protruded resulting in proclination of teeth as well as incomplete lip seal.

Orthodontic appliances may help you out in such situation.
Depending on the severity of malalignment, treatment duration can be planned.

If you are willing to get invisible braces, which are very costly, you can ask regading this with your orthodontist.

Hope this helps.

Take care.

HELLO
THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR CONCERN IN HCM FORUM
IT SEEMS YOU ARE HAVING PROCLINATION OF ANTERIOR TEETH.
DO NOT WORRY , ORTHODONTIC TREATMENT WILL DEFINITELY SOLVE THE PROBLEM.
FIRST YOU NEED TO GET MODEL ANALYSIS DONE( DENTIST WILL TAKE IMPRESSION PF YOUR UPPER AND LOWER TEETH , WILL MAKE A CAST AND THEN WILL ANALYZE THE THINGS LIKE DIMENSIONS , SPACE AVAILABLE , TYPE OF MALOCCLUSION ETC)
THEN THE TYPE OF TREATMENT YOU NEED WILL BE FINALIZED.
COST VARIES DEPENDING UPON THE TYPE OF TREATMENT YOU REQUIRE AND THE TYPE OF MATERIAL YOU CHOOSE.
AS YOU WANT TO HIDE YOUR BRACES YOU CAN GO FOR CERAMIC , INVISIBLE OR LINGUAL BRACES.
DURATION , AGAIN WILL BE DEPEND UPON TYPE OF ORTHO TREATMENT YOU ARE REEVING.
USUALLY IT TAKES 1-2 YEARS.
VISIT AN ORTHODONTIST FOR THE TREATMENT.
FOR ANY DOUBT , WRITE US BACK

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

According to your clinical symptoms i suppose that you are having proclination of the anterior teeth, this can surely be corrected with an orthodontic treatment.

I would suggest you to visit to an Orthodontist and get the checkup done.
Take an OPG radiograph, upper and lower arch impressions are required for examination and model analysis.

Duration of the treatment and cost usually depends upon the type of treatment recieved, usually it take 1-2 years.

For patients uncomfortable with the use of braces, ceramic tooth coloured braces can also be given.

Hope you find this as helpful,

Regards..

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hi,

Yes, braces will be helpful. Braces, on average, are left on between 20 and 24 months. To keep teeth straight after braces are removed, people must wear retainers. These appliances hold the teeth in their corrected position until the bones grow around the teeth to stabilize them.

Yet again, I do hope that you have found something helpful and informative.
Regards.
