Found Third Ventricle Colloid Cyst. Is There A Possibility Of Sudden Death ?

Hi am a 36 335LB woman. I know I need to lose weight, but on the 22 of june I went to the ER with a bad headache, and my face hurt. I had a cracked wisdom tooth, and I thought it was that. My BP was 204/109. They rushed me back, and did a Cat Scan. They found a 7mm third ventricle colloid cyst. And told be to see a doctor. I have not seen a doctor yet, I am waiting for an appointment. But what I keep reading is a "possible sudden death". Is this common

Hello
Thanks for writing to HCM

Third ventricle colloid cyst is the benign tumour of brain accounting for 0.5-3% of brain tumours.
Mostly they are asymptomatic , but they can present with headache and acute hydrocephalus and its usual position is foramen of monro.
Headache may be due to increased B.P or colloid cyst itself. Since ,mostly they are asymptomatic, increased B.P should be considered first for headache.
Yes it is one of the causes of sudden death.
You need follow up CT Scan, so increase in size can be diagnosed. If size increases, surgical removal is the choice. If size remains the same with time then it can be discussed with patient and doctor and discuss the pros and cons of surgery.
