In rhabdomyolysis myoglobin is released from the affected muscle leading to tubular obstruction in kidney.
Initial aggressive volume loading followed by mannitol-alkaline diuresis of up to 8 litres per day is required till the myoglobin is no longer detected it urine and serum creatinine comes to normal.
