Hi,I am Dr. Alexander H. Sheppe (Psychiatrist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello I had been a moderate to heavy user of marijuana. I stopped using marijuana approximately 1 month ago but my urinalysis results are not really showing a decrease in the thc levels. I also have hypothyroidism and a very slow metabolism rate. I am 48 years old, weight approximately 250lbs. Why are the thc levels not dropping the way they should?
Wow, a lot of reasons. Liver failure and grapefruit juice interferance are probably the only reasons you do NOT have. Marijuana is oily like cigarette tar, stains, gasoline odor, etc. It is sticky. It accumulates and stays. Furthermore it is absorbed into fat so someone with more fat will hold onto more of the marijuana breakdown products and they wil stay longer and take longer to leave. Typically there can be urine tests postive for 1 to 2 months after chronic heavy use. If someone is fat an a heavy user it might take even longer.
