Five year old suffer from intestinal infection. Vomiting and fever with diarrhea. Greenish stools. Should be concerned?

Greetings Doctor, My child of five years seems to be suffering from intestinal infection since last evening. He vomitted three times between evening to night yesterday.Today, we consulted a local doctor and started giving him pro-biotic, and a medicine to stop vomitting and one dose of calpol to check fever . However, just now, he seems to have passed greenish colour loose motion. Also, the vomitting tendency has reduced today and also this ilness seems to be less tormenting for him today. However we are also administering him oral rehydration solution whenever he is having loose motion. Could you please advise if slightly greenish semi solid bowel should be a matter of great concern or it can be taken care of by probiotic . Thanks and Best Regards Malabika

Thanks for your query.
Your child is having acute gastroenteritis which is mostly viral in nature and settles in few days.
Greenish stools are not a matter of concern.
Most important is to maintain proper hydration.
Continue giving oral rehydration solution sip by sip after each loose stool, give coconut water,lemonade.curd.boiled potato, banana, rice porridge,
Continue with probiotic.
Watch for features of dehydration like decreased urine output/lethargy/increased thirst/decreased skin turgor and in case you find any get hi evaluated by pediatrician.
Wishing your baby good health.
God bless..
