Fingered With Finger That Had A Small Cur. Any Possibility Of AIDS Or Other Disease ?

Hello, i had a small cut, that was about 7 hours fresh, and I fingered my girlfriend with that finger that had an open cut, I've never had sexual activity and it was my first time coming into sexual contact with her, she has been fingered before but thats it, neither of us have had sex, and have no diseases or HIV. Is there a possibilty that we will have Aids or have any type of disease.

Hi,
Thanks for writing in.

It is unlikely that HIV or any sexually transmitted disease could have transmitted as you have clearly mentioned that neither of you have any sexually transmitted diseases or HIV.

Hypothetically for HIV infection to spread, following must occur:

You must come in contact with pre-cum, semen, vaginal secretions, blood, or breast milk.

The virus must get directly into your bloodstream through some fresh cut, open sore, abrasion etc.

The virus does not survive more than a few minutes outside the body. So things must occur real fast.

However the same thing does not apply to sexually transmitted diseases other than HIV.

Be careful next time.

Hope this helps.

Psychiatrist Dr. Anjana Rao Kavoor's  Response
Hi,

AIDS or other sexually transmitted diseases are transmitted when there is exchange of body fluids. The virus or infectious agent in one's blood is then transmitted to the other. So if the blood on your finger contained the virus only then there are chances of contracting the virus which is unlikely.

If the cut is fresh, deep and had not healed then exposure of the vaginal bacteria can infect the finger in turn. Watch out for any redness, tenderness or pus.

Hope this helps,
Dr A Rao
