Fibroid Cyst Removed From Ovaries, Several In Uterus. Advised Robotic Hysterectomy, Ovaries, Cervix Removal. Suggestion?

I am 51 years old and do not paln on having anymore children. I've had fibroid cyst removed from my ovaries about 10 years ago and now I have several in my uterus. Thus my gyn recommends robotic hysterectomy. Which I can agree to, however she now wants to take out my ovaries and cervix. I did say no to the ovaries because i understand they control your hormones and I will be experiancing menopause soon but I am not sure on the cervix I feel as if she would rather just take eveything out at once! But what is my benifit to take the ovaries and especially the cervix out?

Hello,

At your age, total hysterectomy is best and definite treatment to eliminate multiple fibroid and related problem. Robotic Hysterectomy is good choice.

You can opt for HRT for few years to eliminate postmenopausal symptoms after the surgery.

However, on keeping ovary inside, you may have some risk in developing ovarian cancer or benign lesion in future. In that case, you may require additional surgery and other treatment protocol. Same to keeping cervix also.

Therefore, we prefer total hysterectomy (removing uterus, ovary, cervix) to eliminate future risk. Kindly, consult with your doctor regarding this. Good luck.
