Fell Off The Bike, Middle Finger Hurt, Discolored, Swollen And Aching. Anything To Concern?

Hi,
I fell off my bike recently and my middle hand finger is aching and is swollen. I can bend the finger, but not too much. The joint next to the fingernail hurts if i bend it more, the other finger joint is ok. I also see some discoloration near the fingernail (like from a bruise). The finger does not hurt if i keep it still or move the hand gently. It hasn't gotten worse, only very slightly better.
I plan on seeing an orthopedist tomorrow, but I am curious as to what this may be.

I have read your query.

There can be a slight fracture or soft tissue injury to your finger but this should be confirmed by having a x ray.

In meanwhile time you may have a finger splint & apply cold fomentation over it.
