Feet Feels Dry, Peels, Becomes Damp And Bumpy, Itching, Strong Odour. Tried Ointment For Athletes Foot, No Help. Solution?
I am 18 and since I was 15 I have had foot skin problems. Recently they have really been getting on my nerves. My feet go through stages, dry and peeling to damp and bumpy, but they ALWAYS itch . They also have a strong odor which is getting worse. I have tried a generic ointment for athletes foot but it smelled worse than my feet and didn t seem to work very well. What can I do??
Hi,
Before i answer your query, just wanted to know if you have excessively sweaty feet. Excessive sweating from feet plus wearing of occlusive foot wear provides a perfect condition for fungus and bacteria to grow. This can lead to bad odour, wrinkling, peeling, redness and itching of skin as well as fungal and bacterial infections of feet. As a general foot care in such cases, use of antiperspirant foot powders, change of socks atleast twice in a day and wearing non occlusive foot wear is advised to keep the area dry. If someone develops a fungal/bacterial infection or eczema owing to sweaty feet that has to be treated too. Kindly consult a dermatologist to get the area examined so that proper therapy can be delivered. Take care
