Feeling Dizzy With Palpitations. EKG Showing Tachycardia. Family History Of Thyroid Problems. Any Serious Problem?

Hi! I visited the walk in clinic today because my heart palpitations increased to every other minute and were so strong I felt dizzy. They would occur over and over again for about a minute or two straight. I saw the doctor and he caught them on an EKG and said I may have Trachycardia and there s no need for alarm. I am 25, I do not smoke and I exercise 5-6 day per week. Hypo and hyperthyroidism runs in my family but he did a test and said I don t have to worry about that. He said I can put a heart monitor on if I want, but he thinks I m pretty healthy. They have continued all day and are so strong it disrupts my normal being . I feel almost knocked sideways by it and it woke me up from a nap. I am concerned that there is a deeper underlying problem here

Hi friend,
Welcome to Health Care Magic

Symptomatic tachycardia need further investigations
If due to thyroid, it is likely to be constant, not episodic
HOLTER (24 to 48 hour ambulatory monitoring) / ECHOcardiogram / TMT (Treadmill exercise ECG) / LABORATORY work-up – may all be necessary for further assessment and assistance.
You may even need Electro Physiological Studies (EPS)
The treating doctor may suggest them depending on need, based on his assessment of the situation.

Take care
Wishing speedy recovery
God bless
Good luck
