Feel Dizzy, Nauseated, Headache After Sitting Up. Has Hypertension On Medicine. Visit Doctor?
Hi. My husband was watching tv in bed and sat up suddenly because the dog jumped on the bed. He became very dizzy and still feels that way ten minutes later. He also felt flushed and nauseated. He still can' sit up without getting dizzy. He also got an instant headache in his forehead. What do you think? should I be calling the hospital or just see if the dizziness goes away? He's 51, and has high blood pressure which is currently controlled with meds. Otherwise healthy.
After reading your post, I would like to advise you that you should get your husband clinically examined.
It seems that his blood pressure might have raised during the episode, resulting in dizziness.
You should lie him down on the bed till the time your doctor arrives. Also get him investigated for :- 1. CT/MRI head and neck. 2. Blood pressure monitoring. 3. ECG.
He can be given antihypertensives for blood pressure control. For persistent dizziness, prochlorperazine 5 mg can be given. His symptoms will disappear once the blood pressure is controlled.
I hope this is helpful to you. Thanks.
