Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Diarrhea and constipation alternately, stomach cramps, mucus in the stool and joints pains sounds like inflammatory bowels disease (Crohns disease). Bowels problems in this disease are caused by partial bowels obstruction (due to intestine inflammation). This symptoms, as well as weight lost should force you to visit your doctor.
Abdominal ultrasound, blood work, liver tests, stool tests should be done at first. Next step should be colonoscopy. Abdominal CT with oral contrast (to verify small intestines) should be also performed.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
