Feel Bloated Often, Taking Omeprazole, Ranitidine. Diagnosed With GERD, Occasional Acid Reflux. Solution ?

Hi, Doctor! My name is AAAAA and I've been taking omeprazole 20 mg 30 minutes before breakfast and another 20mg 30 minutes before dinner. I also take ranitidine 150mg 3x a day after meals. I often times feel bloated especially when i wake up in the morning. I felt that my system has not digested the meal I had the night after. I have also been diagnosed with GERD in 2007. Since then I have very occassional episodes of acid reflux. But since last year, it has been going on and off. There were times I experience heartburn after lunch and while sleeping at night so I sleep in seating position to avoid acid reaching my throat. I also had a solid nodule in my right thyroid gland with the combined size of 2 or 3 mongo seeds. My question is, could the nodule have caused the acid reflux to come back? can drinking sterilized milk help heal my reflux? What are the chances that my nodule is cancerous? my neck is not bulging though i feel my neck is a little prominent. could that be because I am skinny? Can I eat a little of the prohibited foods like tomato on pasta, half cup of coffee once in a while, or a bite of chocolate? I am really worried about my throat. Please help me understand my illness more. I am a single parent with 2 very young kids. Thank you very much in advance and have a good day.

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
You mentioned that GERD is there ,this is right and you are taking omeprazole 20 twice in day.
But in my point of view ,this is a not complete treatment as you are also taking Ranitidine 150 mg thrice in day.
Here we will discuss first about the hyper acidity and its reason.
This may be a peptic ulcer disease or Haitus hernia.
Diagnosis can be confirmed by upper G I endoscopy.
As you mentioned that you sleep in sitting position , this is a good thing ,but severity of disease can be judged .
Also avoid alcohol, caffeine , junk ,greasy food.
Please don't take any type of tension or stress.
Consult a gastroenterologist and get hid opinion and treatment.
In my practical life I have seen that main cause of gastritis is TENSION.
For thyroid nodule consult a thyroid specialist and get his opinion.
However it seems that this is simple case of enlargement of thyroid not any cancer.
Good luck.
Dr. HET.
