Feeding Mother, Had A Tubal Ligation After C-section. Missed Period. Faint Line On Pregnancy Strip. Problem?

hello, I am a 37 year old mother of 5. had a tubal ligation on march 14,2013 after c-section. I breastfeed my son exclusively until a year old. once I slowed down to 2 feedings a day I started my cycle again. I have had 3 normal periods (every 29 days). I am now 9 days late, i took a hpt and it came back with a VERY faint line. I am assuming it's negative. Is it normal to miss periods....or is it possible I could be pregnant after getting my tubes tied??? Help

Hi,
Thanks for your question.
No, it is never normal to miss a period!
Tubal ligation is considered to be a permanent method of contraception but rarely failures do occur. I recommend you to have a serum Beta hCG test & if it is positive you must see a Gynecologist, as there is a chance of an ectopic pregnancy.
Wish you good health.

Hi, Thanks for using HCM.

You can get Blood HCG test done once again to know raising levels of it and USG abdomen to check for intrauterine sac.Chances of pregnancy are rare as you have got your tubal ligation done. Delayed periods could be due to hormonal variation as you are feeding your baby. Need not have to worry for it.
Very rarely conception is possible if there is any problem with ligation.
Hope I answered your question. Consult your doctor for further examination and management.
Feel free to ask me if you have any further queries.
Wish you good health. Take care.

Regards
